 Matt Schalk, General Manager of Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, brings 34 years of distinguished hospitality experience, including an impressive 30-year tenure with Hyatt Hotels Corporation. A proud graduate of Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business in Hotel Management, Matt has built a career defined by strategic leadership, operational excellence, and an unwavering commitment to elevating guest experiences. His career journey reflects a rare depth of expertise across revenue management, sales and marketing, asset management, and hotel operations. Since 2024, he has led the 1,258-room Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, one of Chicago’s premier convention hotels, guiding its operational execution, financial performance and strategic vision. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President of Revenue Management (2020–2024), Vice President of Asset Management (2019–2020), and Regional Vice President of Sales & Marketing (2014–2017), in addition to multiple senior leadership positions in revenue strategy. Earlier in his career, Matt honed his operational foundation as an Operations Manager in numerous Hyatt properties across the country. Renowned for his analytical insight, collaborative leadership style, and passion for continuous improvement, Matt continues to shape Hyatt’s success while fostering teams that deliver extraordinary results.
