A Toronto native, Nabil Moubayed brings over 20 years of hotel industry experience to the Kimpton Gray Chicago. After receiving his master’s degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, Moubayed’s hotel career began with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts as operations manager at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in San Francisco. He quickly rose the ranks to the role of general manager at various Wyndham hotels in Denver, New Orleans and Chicago during his six-year tenure with the company.  

This experience prepared Nabil for his work as the general manager at the award-winning Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Chicago and The Hotel Palomar in River North. He proved to be extremely influential in building Kimpton’s EarthCare program and spearheading the Green Seal certification for all of Kimpton’s Chicago properties. In 2012, Nabil assumed Kimpton’s position of Midwest director of operations, overseeing a combined 1,200 rooms and approximately 750 staff members. In the spring of 2016, he moved on to oversee the opening of the Gray, the fifth Kimpton Hotel in Chicago, again in the role of general manager.  Under Moubayed’s leadership, the Gray has received honors that include 2019 Best Hotels in Chicago by U.S. News and World Report.

Moubayed was the Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association in 2016 and has served on the Boards of the Chicago Loop Alliance, Greater North Michigan Avenue Association and on the Hospitality Advisory Board of Kendall College.

In his spare time Moubayed is an avid golfer, soccer player and enjoys traveling to new destinations with his wife and two children. A native of Canada, he has lived and worked in Cyprus, Nigeria, Singapore and Germany and is fluent in German and French.
