A new hotel is slated to open in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood this spring on the campus of the University of Chicago.

The Study at the University of Chicago, located at 1227 E. 60th St., will be the third concept hotel by New York-based Hospitality 3 LLC, which also has hotels on the campuses of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

The 167-room hotel will include a restaurant, 4,700 square feet of conference space, a 2,200-square-foot winter garden with seating for 200, and a 1,000-square-foot outdoor patio, according to Madelyn Reiter, a spokeswoman for the development.

“Hyde Park is seeing a major commercial real estate shift, transforming an area considered ‘fringe’ into an academic and cultural hub,” Reiter told the Chicago Business Journal.

The South Side neighborhood, which is anchored by the University of Chicago, has a Hyatt hotel, Ramada Inn and Sophy, an independent boutique hotel.
