As we enter the second year of the pandemic, it has become increasingly apparent the various vaccinations approved for safeguarding against COVID-19 are a key element to returning to normal business operations.  Employers have raised a number of questions about how the vaccine can be deployed effectively to assist the business.

The COVID-19 pandemic was a shock to the system that led to a number of layoffs across the hotel industry. But as demand starts to return and occupancy increases, hoteliers are finding ways to bring back staff.

In a typical year, the top causes of stress affecting employee well-being are generally money, physical health, work and relationships. The COVID-19 pandemic, of course, is anything but typical, and it has exacerbated many of these issues and more, including mental health, job stability, housing, care for kids and the elderly, and work/life balance.

On the heels of updated guidance around travel for fully vaccinated Americans, hoteliers are noticing improving momentum with bookings pace into the summer and fall months.

Hoteliers looking at demand during last year’s pandemic summer as well as current spring break trends expect the summer of 2021 will keep them on pace for the recovery.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee—The United States led the world in new hotel and room openings during Q1 2021, according to global pipeline data from STR’s AM:PM platform. At the same time, the country’s construction activity continues to decline in comparison with pre-pandemic levels.

CHICAGO — Hyatt Hotels Corporation recently announced plans to explore VeriFLY + Stay, a mobile health passport for the hospitality industry using the VeriFLY app that provides verification of COVID-19 credentials and travel guidelines. This mobile app allows meeting attendees and colleagues to directly receive and present COVID-19 test results; tens of thousands of travelers have used VeriFLY to verify their COVID-19 health status since January 1, 2021.
